Moving Forward

The Wounded Warriors were greeted at the airport in Orlando by a huge supportive crowd of well wishers!

Matt is now SSG Matt Lammers (Retired)! As of the end of October Matt has returned to civilian life. He returned to Olathe to live until he is able to resume rehabilitation in Oklahoma. Matt recently was awarded a trip to Orlando from the Coalition to Salute America's Heroes which included his parents and his two daughters . We all attended the Road to Recovery Conference and met up with many old friends and made some new ones. Matt has accepted a position with the Coalition and American Airlines which will allow him to continue his own quest to walk again and give him a chance to begin to give back to all of those who have supported him and his fellow wounded warriors. Matt and his daughters were taped for a Sesame Street segment focusing on the families of wounded soldiers which should be aired this spring.

Matt is due to be discharged from the army on October 29! He will be moving back home to be near his family! It has been a long time coming. Welcome home, Matt! We will surround you with our love.

Thank you, everyone for all of your prayers and support.

Matt has decided to leave the military. He is elligible for full medical retirement. The process for leaving the army will take some time. Matt has determined that this in not the best time to continue to pursue walking. He is due for a rest! He will continue to live in San Antonio for the time being in an apartment with his friend, James Orlowski.

Matt's one year anniversary was this past week. Many of his family joined him in Texas to celebrate his life. His sister, Windy, and her family were able to be with Matt for the first time since before he went to Iraq. All of us were with him in spirit if not in person.

Matt Receives Award for Senator Bob Dole

On Friday, May 2, 2008, Matt was honored to receive the Bob Dole Humanitarian Award for Service to the Disability Community for Senator Dole who is the first recipient of this award presented by the Special Education Department of the University of Kansas on the occasion of the department's 50th Anniversary.
Matt was asked by Senator Dole to accept the award for him because he was unable to attend the Gala. The university brought Matt and his friend and fellow soldier, James Orlowski, to Lawrence for the presentation.

Matt thoroughly enjoyed his first bike ride since he was injured. He actually rode almost 80 miles over three days. He hopes to enter more rides in the future.

Matt also has some other great events coming up. In April his unit will be returning from Iraq. Matt, Angel and Terry, Jr. all plan to meet the troops when they return to Fort Riley. It will be the first time since their injuries that all three of these guys will be together as well as be with their unit.
In May, Matt will be receiving an award for Senator Bob Dole at the University of Kansas in honor of the anniversary of the special education department. Senator Dole will not be able to attend and has asked Matt to be there for him. Matt said he would be honored to do so.

Matt is an uncle, again

Matt has become an uncle again. His sister, Jessica, delivered a precious baby girl (who was not due until mid-June) on March 6. Matt's newest neice weighed in at one pound and twelve ounces. She must have Matt's fighting spirit because she is doing very well!

A bit of news...

Matt hopes to participate in an arm bike race to Corpus Christy (fifty miles?!) in March!!!! He is swimming every day; does 6-8 laps to warm up; is able to dive to the bottom to retreive objects. He tried surfing on the wave machine which was cool, but made him very sore.
Matt has passed the base driving test, but hasn't yet taken the DMV test. He gave back his crutch this week and has been walking without one, using the stubbies. He is expecting his C-legs in the next few weeks and has a friend who is going to take him to buy his first pair of shoes, so we are all still eagerly waiting.
June 10 will be one year after his injuries and Matt said he thinks he'd like to have people around.

A Lot Has Happened

Several things have happened in the last few weeks which have been pretty difficult for Matt but things are beginning to look up!
Matt ended up in the hospital with a bleeding stomach ulcer last Wednesday. He was released from the hospital on Friday, 2/1, and is doing well.
All of the events of this past year have really taken a toll on Matt's family. Matt and Tessa have decided to live apart. Matt is now living in the barracks.
We, Matt's parents, were able to visit him this past weekend and help him to arrange his living space. It is small but should be comfortable for Matt.

The address that was posted on the first page will no longer work for reaching Matt and will not work for Tessa or the girls in a few weeks.

Please keep Matt and his family in your prayers.

Great Start to a New Year

Matt's family has enjoyed a wonderful visit with him and his wife and children over the holidays. Thanks for making the trip, you guys!
Matt got to thank Pat Kerr, State Veterans Ombudsman and Operation Outreach, Missouri Veterans Commission, in person for all that she has done for him and his family. Pat and some of her family were traveling through KC and took time to come to visit with Matt. Pat got to try out the chairlift for which she was instrumental in getting funding.

Matt will be traveling to New York to visit with an old friend, John Blakesley, who was with him in Iraq on Matt's first tour. Matt will then be returning to San Antonio for rehab and hopefully his next legs which will have knees.

Home for the Holidays

It looks like Matt will make it home for the holidays. And it looks like Mom and Dad's house will be accessible thanks to a number of donations and some hard work. A huge thank you goes to Pat Kerr, State Veterans Ombudsman and Director of Operation Outreach Missouri Veterans Commission, Roberts Foundation and Flatwork, Keith Wells, Hermes Landscaping, Steve Danyluk of the Independence Fund, and more. We also want to thank the Mercy Medical Airlift/Angel Flight organization for providing air travel to Mom and Dad in order for them to go get Matt and bring him home. Hopefully, soon, there will be lots of pictures to share!

Matt has returned from a renewing trip to Florida. He went sailing in the mornings and snorkeling in the afternoons. He said he has made some wonderful new friends. Upon returning to the CFI today, Matt had his legs cast for his prosthetics. He may be up walking by tomorrow! His first legs will be "stubbies" which are short, kneeless and have backward facing feet for balance. Go! Matt!

Matt has been working to learn to use his arm prosthesis and will be getting a new hand attachment which is a hook type devise. He is scheduled to get his first leg prostheses in about a month! Hopefully he will be up on his new feet very soon. In the meantime, Matt is going to get to go sailing in Florida. He will be learning to sail on a boat which has been adapted for people with a single arm. He will be traveling with a group of wounded soldiers from the CFI. Smooth sailing, soldiers!

Terry Clees was injured in the same explosion in which Matt was injured. I believe he was the driver of the Humvee. This infomation has come from Terry's step-mother, Catherine Clees. She requests that we continue to pray for Terry's recovery.

Terry suffered a severe traumatic brain injury, extensive injuries to his right arm, and various shrapnel wounds. He is currently in the Polytrauma Unit at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis MN. He has PT, OT, RT and speech therapy daily. He continues to make small improvements, and can walk with a walker and some assistance in physical therapy. Giving Back Just a Little

Parade of Heroes

Matt and his family enjoyed being in the Parade of Hereos. Matt was honored as the Grand Marshal. Thank you to Pat Sedlock, the Village West Rotary Club, the Shawnee Rotary Club and all of the people who made this possible. We do not know who all of you are but Matt and his family want to thank you, not only for the honor but for the opportunity to visit his home town for the first time since his injuries. Thank you, Kurt Mayo of Hilton Garden Inn for providing the lodging for Matt and his family. And, thank you, Dave Huston, for providing the airline tickets. Your generosity amazes us!

Matt is preparing to enter the Classic Car in which he and his family road. Helping with these last minute preparations was Pat Sedlock, parade chairwoman, who helped every step of the way. Thank you to Wendell Maddox of United Way for the vehicle they provided Matt and his family while they were visiting Kansas City.

Following the parade a reception was held at Cheeseburger in Paradise. Thank you so much to Mac Taylor, who made this possible and donated the fun and food!

Matt is doing physical therapy everyday at the CFI. As he is getting stronger, he is more able to get in and out of his wheelchairs and play with his girls.

Tessa has done a remarkable job of making their new home very special for each of their daughters.

Matt's girls are on the way to Texas! Tessa is bringing them home this weekend. Happy reunion little family! Also, Matt has been told that he indeed qualifies for the nerve reinnervation research project and he will eventually receive the newest in prosthetic arms. He has a lot of healing to do yet and will start with simpler prostheses in order to prepare his arm.

Holy Trinity Parish Benefit Barbeque

On Saturday, August 25, 2007, Holy Trinity Parish is holding a benefit barbeque for Matt and his family. Organizers of the benefit pose by the smoker in front of the church before starting the ribs. At least nine hundred tickets were sold!!!

Mr. Chris Herrold, donor, organizer and chief smoker, prepares part of the 100 pounds of smoked sausage, 160 slabs of baby back ribs and 1,400 pieces of chicken that will be served.

Matt's Faithful Wife

One of the first things I learned and admired about Tessa when I first met her was that she is a faithful, self-sacrificing care-taker. Before she and Matt were married, I was amazed when I saw her love for family members and her willingness to put them before herself when they were sick or needed care.
When she and Matt were first married, I saw Tessa leave her family, whom she loves so deeply, in order to fully love her husband and care for him. She was willing to move from her home-town, where all of her family lives, to follow Matt as he was stationed in different bases throughout the US. She often stayed on base, far from family, taking care of their home even during long deployments. She has worked to make a home for her family no matter where she has been (even in a hospital room- the nurses agreed that it was the best decorated room they have ever seen!).
Tessa has been diligently caring for their daughters through Matt’s basic training and three deployments. Because of Matt’s service to our great country, Tessa has been the primary care-taker for much of their girl’s lives. Yet now, she has been away from them for nearly two months as she has lovingly put her husband before them and stayed by his side. I cannot imagine how much she misses her little girls and how she longs for them. Every day is a great sacrifice as she lovingly cares for Matt with her girls so far away.
When I had the opportunity to visit with Matt and Tessa in Texas a few weeks ago, I got to see first hand Tessa’s incredible patience and love for Matt. She seemed to know just what to say to lift him when he needed it most. Many people have commented that they are amazed at Matt’s incredibly positive attitude. He has no doubt had a fantastic view from the very beginning of this. But, I think that his wife, Tessa, is in large part the “wind beneath his wings”.
While deployed in Iraq, when Matt struggled with the realities of war and the real danger he was in, Tessa was so strong, always saying “You’re not gonna’ die!” in a very casual and convincing way. Even now, she seems unmoved by the injuries that Matt has endured, saying, “I wasn’t attached to his arm and legs!” She continually reassures him of her love and adoration for him. She has been by his side from the moment he arrived in Texas, and seems so at ease with him, quietly caring for him just the way he needs.
Tessa has done an outstanding job of caring for her husband. Yet, I think she probably just sees it as the simple things she does. It comes so naturally to her. But, today, I want to thank her, and commend her on a job very well done. She is a wonderful, loving mom, and the perfect support and life companion for Matt.

Matt and Tessa have been the recipients of many gifts and contributions. We simply cannot acknowledge everyone! However, there are a few people and organizations who need to be publicly thanked...General Larry Kay, Deputy Director of the Missouri Veterans Commission and Pat Kerr, State Veterans Ombudsman/ Operation Outreach of the Missouri Veterans Commission, Senator Bob Dole, Co-Chair of the Commission on Care for Returning Wounded Warriors, Reserve Aid and Soldier's Angels. These people and organizations have gone out of their way to provide for Matt and his family. We cannot thank you enough!

We also need to acknowledge with gratitude the manner in which the military is providing care for Matt. He truly is being given the best treatment available. His doctors, nurses, therapists and other assistants and case workers have given him the best of care.

A lot has changed!

Matt has all of his sutures removed and is healing remarkably well. His next step is to get a temporary arm prosthesis which will not have an elbow. With it he hopes to learn to propel his manual wheelchair which will be a big step toward independence because of the portability of the smaller, lighter chair.

Matt's sister, Jessica, was able to visit with him for a few days and was able to accompany him and Tessa on Matt's first outing away from the hospital. The outing was made possible by Virginia Hemp who is coordinating the targeted nerve reinnervation project in which Matt hopes to partake.

And, Matt was discharged from the hospital yesterday and he and Tessa are now in temporary lodging at the Fisher House until their post housing becomes available in mid August!

The Fisher House is located next to the Center For the Intrepid (CFI) which is where Matt will be spending his days doing therapy.

Matt continues to heal and to make progress in his quest for independence. He is going to daily sessions of PT at the Center for the Intrepid where he is working on strengthening, stretching, and learning new skills.

Because of Matt's wife, Tessa's, hard work and persistence they will be getting accessible housing on post by mid August at which time the whole family will be able to be together again.

Matt has had some distinguished visitors as well as friends and family. Pictures will come later when available.

We all appreciate everyone's continued support. Matt enjoys each of the cards and well wishes.

Matt came through the surgical procedure yesterday in good shape. In fact he is off to PT already today! The news from the surgery yesterday was mixed. The doctors did not find any pocket of fluid or infection, however, they did find some dead tissue. Some of that tissue was removed but not all. At this time rather than risk the introduction of more infection by opening and surgically cleaning out the wound, they will wait and monitor his leg carefully. We are hoping that the wound will heal itself without further intervention. Your prayers will be greatly appreciated.

Prayer Request

Matt has developed a pocket of fluid in his right leg. The doctors have decided to take Matt to surgery tomorrow (Sunday, 7/15) to investigate and clean it out. Hopefully this will be done early in the day and if it is infected, it will heal quickly. Please keep him in your prayers.

Matt has made lots of progress in the past week. He had his first physical therapy session at the Center for the Intrepid. With hard work and determination he mastered transferring himself into his power chair and even managed to transfer to a toilet with a little advice from his physical therapist! While at the rehabilitation center, Matt met with a fellow soldier, Chad, who showed Matt his prosthetic legs and demonstrated walking for him.

Matt also expects to have the sutures removed from his arm very soon.

PFC Gomez made it to visit Matt in his room! Among other things, they practiced target shooting with a Nerf gun. Matt shared his pictures of the Hum-Vee with Gomez and related what he could remember of the explosion. PFC Gomez recalled mostly only smoke and ringing ears. PFC Gomez is continuing to make progress and is expecting to be transferred to the 4th floor orthopedic wing soon.

Matt is hoping to be able to take part in a research project through the Chicago Rehabilitation Institute called the Targeted Reinnervation for Improved Myoelectric Prosthesis Function at Brooke Army Medical Center. He will undergo further evaluations at the end of August to determine his eligibility. If selected, he will undergo a surgical procedure that will transplant nerves in his arm and then be fitted with the newest of prosthetic arms which function in a more natural fashion. Last, but not least, Matt has earned a promotion! As of September 1st he will be Staff Sergeant Lammers.

I originally published in “One Hero” (in the right sidebar) that we knew that there were other heroes in the story who saved Matt’s life. Recently Matt called me and gave me some more details about his rescue and the names of those involved. It is my privilege to get to share their names with you and to honor and thank them. (To the heros in this story and any others who personally know those involved: Although I tried to get the details as accurate as possible, please forgive any misspellings of names or innaccuracies of data, and please leave me a message if you are aware of any changes which need to be made.)

American Heroes

After the explosion which left the driver of the Hum-Vee unconscious, Sgt. Lammers’ vehicle slowed to a stop. He saw that his arm was split in half and was missing some fingers, but due to the smoke, he was not aware that he had also lost his legs. Sgt. Lammers tried to get out of the Hum-Vee, and looked down when he realized his legs were not moving. Seeing the full impact the explosion had on his body and knowing that he had to get himself out, he threw himself out of the truck to the ground with his one arm and began crawling to the medic, hero Sgt. Butts, who acted quickly putting on the three tourniquets which saved Sgt. Lammers’ life. Sgt. Butts then turned to help the other wounded heroes, PFC. Clees, PFC Gomez, and Sgt. Applegate. Unfortunately, within days of this incident, Sgt. Butts was himself injured by schrapnel and is being treated in Germany for his wounds.
Sgt. Lammers lay on the ground, facing the reality of the seriousness of his injuries. Thoughts of death filled his mind as hero PFC Freeman stayed by his side, holding his hand, giving him the courage to stay alive. Sgt. Lammers looked to the sky, feeling it was the last glimpse he would have from this side of heaven, and praying to God, he found the strength that he needed to endure.
Hero Sgt. Savant picked up Sgt. Lammers and carried him to a Bradley fighting vehicle belonging to a unit which turned around to come assist. He stayed by his side during the ride to the 28th CSH (Casualty Support Hospital), giving him encouragement, and helping to keep him conscious by talking with him about his wife and kids and some future plans for a BBQ.
Hero PFC Anderson and the heroes of the Alpha CO. 1-18 Infantry were also key in the rescue of the wounded, as they immediately turned to assist after the explosion. Hero SFC Nelson coordinated the vehicles which saved the lives of the wounded soldiers.
Certainly many others played a role in saving the lives of these men, encouraging them, quickly transporting them, and giving them life-saving medical care in the midst of a war zone. These are all heroes who left the comfort of their homes and families to serve and pay for our freedom and security.
Thank you, PFC Clees, PFC Gomez, SGT Applegate, SGT Butts, SGT Savant, PFC Freeman, SFC Nelson, PFC Anderson, and the entire D CO 1-28 and Alpha CO. 1-18 Infantry . We honor you and thank you for your courage and great sacrifices. You are all true heroes.

Matt's lower limbs

Matt has seen his lower limbs unwrapped now (which I assume means he is also learning to clean them himself!). When Mom sent me the pictures of his wounds on his lower limbs, the realities of the war became clearer to me. The wounds aren't clean like is arm, and it is very evident that it is extremely painful. The sight of them leaves me very sober. I have attached a link below for those who wish to view the photos.

A Time to Express Our Gratitude

Matt and all of his family would like to take this opportunity to say thank you. This Independence Day has taken on a new and deeper meaning for many of us as we have witnessed the kind of sacrifice that so many are making on our behalf. The community support with which we have been surrounded has sustained us and humbled us. We indeed are so lucky to live in such a very special place. While Matt is still not able to personally thank you, he wishes to express his gratitude for the donations made to his medical fund. Because of your generosity, his future is looking brighter.

Tessa was in the process of reading aloud the cards which Matt received for the 4th of July and had only gotten through about half of them by last night! He was given boxes full--we have not taken the time to count all of them! Thank you for each card sent. It was quite a dramatic and fun gesture of support. Your cards and messages continue to brightened Matt's days.

The Army has provided Matt with a customized power wheelchair and in it he won the challenge to go visit PFC Angel Gomez first. PFC Gomez was injured in the blast with Matt and had hoped to be the one to "get his wheels first" so he could go to Matt's room. The meeting was quite emotional but was very helpful to both. We look forward to hearing about PFC Gomez's first visit to Matt's room!

On Monday, July 2, Matt was able (with the help of his occupational therapist and physical therapists) to transfer to a motorized wheelchair and leave his room on his own power for the first time since he was injured.

Daddy got to celebrate Jaelen's first birthday with the family!

Because of the generosity of Tessa's sister, Nissa, Matt's two daughters were able to visit from late Thursday until Sunday evening. The whole family celebrated Jaelen's birthday together at the hospital. Matt's friends, Mike and Anna Eldred, provided a beautiful cake and some ice cream for Jaelen to sample! Big sister, Taena, helped to wrap gifts!

There may not be as many postings in the next two weeks, but we will resume regular updates in a week or two. Matt has some exciting things to look forward to, and we will be delighted to share his progress with you all. Thank you so much for your continued support and encouragement of Matt. By the way, this website has been put together entirely by Matt's family and friends. He hasn't yet even seen it, so the comment "It's just a flesh wound." was a joke from Monty Python that I thought he would appreciate. It wasn't his own comment. With twenty-four stitches Matt's surgeons have beautifully closed this wound. This was Matt's first look at his residual arm and lesson in cleaning and dressing the wound. Looking great, brother!
Matt is on IV antibiotics, and at the end of this treatment, and when he has learned to care for his wounds by himself, he will be looking at being discharged! After his inpatient stay at Brooke Army Medical Center Matt will have rehab in the Center for the Intrepid (check the links on the side bar).

Matt's newest nephew, Kolby Curtis Stevenson born June 26, 2007.

Matt became an uncle again yesterday afternoon! Congratulations to new parents Windy (Matt Lammers' sister) and Matt Stevenson on the arrival of their first born, a son, named Kolby Curtis Stevenson. Kolby weighed 8 lbs and 9 oz. and is healthy and beautiful!

Matt's final wound was closed this afternoon with a skin graft. Congratulations, Matt! As long as there continues to be no infection, he will have no more surgeries! The next steps are physical therapy and fitting for prosthetics. Matt will continue to need our support and prayers, as this will be a long road. But, he is off to an great start.

On The River

Summer vacations were always at “the river” growing up. Mom and Dad passed on their love of camping and canoeing the Niangua River to all of us, but none of us ever handled a canoe as well as Matt. He learned from a young age to take the stern of a canoe, and by the time he reached early adulthood, the front of his canoe was the best spot to be if you wanted to pull in a bass or a trout. He patiently and skillfully put his angler guest in the best fishing holes. A snag was merely an interesting challenge to him, giving him the opportunity to skillfully maneuver the boat through fallen trees and rocks to get to the right spot to retrieve the snagged lure. He did it with such grace.

While Matt has been home on his brief R&R’s over the past few years, he has often made trips to the river. I have a memory etched in my mind from last September –what I believe was the last time he and Tessa were in a canoe. When I first heard of Matt’s injuries I thought he would never have the opportunity for another float trip again. But, just days after the explosion, we began learning about the incredible advancements that have been made in medical technology for amputees. Our hopes have been soaring as we have begun to see possibilities for Matt to continue to enjoy the things he loves to do.

During these difficult days over the past few weeks I have often thought about seeing Matt the first time he gets back into a canoe. I don’t want to miss it. With the help of many generous family and friends we hope to help him purchase the specialized prosthetics and equipment which he will need to some day float the river again. Thank you to all of you who have contributed to the SGT Matt Lammers Medical Fund, which will make this possible!

Surgery Again Tomorrow

Matt is feeling better after his break from surgeries. He has gotten the word that he is scheduled for surgery again tomorrow. They will attempt to close his final wound. No Surgery Today

Matt is better rested today and looking forward to a visit with a fellow soldier. He is thankful that he was not scheduled for surgery today, allowing him some time to rest and recover. We do not have a definite plan yet for this next surgery, but believe it may be Monday.

Matt is enjoying the cards that friends and family have sent, and the photos of his family on posters in his room. Thank you to all who have sent encouragement in the mail and posted messages to him on this site. The hospital rooms do not have internet hook-ups, but the messages are being printed out and mailed to him for now.

Today when I spoke with Matt, he specifically asked for prayer to help him manage the pain. He has had a difficult day. The doctors cannot increase the pain meds anymore due to the risk that it could lower his heart rate. Pray for endurance through the pain and rest.

Tomorrow is another surgery day, so updates will come as we have them.

Thursday's Surgery Report

Matt's surgery went very well this afternoon. There continues to be no signs of infection and his arm looks good. The doctors were able to close his right leg today! The left leg remains open and they are hoping to take him back into surgery on Saturday. As of today, there is not enough skin to close this left leg, so they are planning to attempt a procedure on Saturday to reduce the size of the muscle mass enough to close it with the available skin. If there is still not enough skin, they will take some from his thigh. They are also hopeful that this procedure of reducing the muscle mass would make fitting a prosthesis easier in the future. Thank you for continuing to pray for this hero.

Surgery Day

Today Matt is scheduled for surgery. He is second on the docket, so we expect him to be going in at about 9:30. Thanks be to God that Matt's fever went down yesterday! More updates will come today as we have news.

Tuesday's Surgery Report

Matt's surgery went well this morning. The doctor was able to do some reconstruction of his arm and close the wound. There are still no signs of infection, however, Matt is running a high fever so the surgeon decided not to attemt to close the wounds on his other limbs.
Matt is scheduled for surgery again this Thursday, June 21. Please join us in praying that our Lord will keep him free from infection and that his temperature would return to normal. Please pray that Matt's attitude would continue to be uplifting to those around him. Please pray with us also that he would be able to go into surgery early in the day on Thursday and that they would be able to close the other two wounds.

Saturday's Surgery Report

Matt's surgery went very well this morning. In answer to the prayers of many, the orthopedic surgeon reported that Matt shows no signs of infection. He also has pleanty of bone and muscle mass left on his arm and left leg for prosthetics. He has less bone on the right leg, and yet the doctor is still hopeful that Matt will be able to use a prosthetic for that leg as well. Matt had a difficult day recovering from the surgery, but tonight is feeling somewhat better. Matt is still in ICU, but hopefully will be able to be moved to a regular room soon.

Prayer Requests:

Please be praying for Matt's next surgery which is schedueled for this Tuesday, June 19. The doctor is hoping to close his wounds. This will be a major surgery. The doctor is hopeful that there will be enough skin to close the wounds, but this is something specific we ask you to be praying for.

Back On American Soil!

Matt arrived at the Brooke Army Medical Center yesterday evening in San Antonio. His wife, Tessa, attended him through the night as he struggled with pain. This morning he has gone into surgery for wound cleaning and assessment.

Matt’s bags have been packed and he is scheduled to make the flight back to the United States on Friday. He will be flown in a medical-airplane that has beds and operates just like a hospital, but with wings! His wife and parents are being flown to San Antonio courtesy the Army to meet him. Please be praying for safe travel for all.
