Holy Trinity Parish Benefit Barbeque

On Saturday, August 25, 2007, Holy Trinity Parish is holding a benefit barbeque for Matt and his family. Organizers of the benefit pose by the smoker in front of the church before starting the ribs. At least nine hundred tickets were sold!!!

Mr. Chris Herrold, donor, organizer and chief smoker, prepares part of the 100 pounds of smoked sausage, 160 slabs of baby back ribs and 1,400 pieces of chicken that will be served.

Mmm Mmm good!

Thank you, everyone!

Hi Matt.
We just enjoyed the bbq and chowed down on some awesome ribs!
The slide show they displayed was really inspiring. I had visited the website and showed the kids and we had talked about everything but my husband hadn't seen or heard much until tonight. He loved the photos of you and was particularly inspired by the photos of you currently. He said "now that's a hero." He said that's a man who knows what it's all about.
Thanks for being that guy. And our special hero.
Fondly,
The Williams Family

Dear Matt,

I just read the article in the "Kansas City Star" about you and some of your fellow soldiers.

I was not surprised that you said you are not a "Hero." However, I can say that your are a hero by my definition. You chose to risk your life for the sake of others. And you did it not once, but day after day after dangerous day. Most people wouldn't have the strength or the guts to do it.

And all those with whom you served and are serving, are heroes too, especially those who saved your life and continue to save the lives of others.

Thanks for your service.

I just want to give my personal thank you, to the Holy Trinity Family, for all of the support, encouragement, and love that you have shown my nephew, Matt. I am so grateful to each and everyone of you. My sister, Barbara, and brother-in-law, Gary, are very fortunate to have such a wonderful community around them. You all are super!
