Friday, July 20

Matt continues to heal and to make progress in his quest for independence. He is going to daily sessions of PT at the Center for the Intrepid where he is working on strengthening, stretching, and learning new skills.
Because of Matt's wife, Tessa's, hard work and persistence they will be getting accessible housing on post by mid August at which time the whole family will be able to be together again.
Matt has had some distinguished visitors as well as friends and family. Pictures will come later when available.
We all appreciate everyone's continued support. Matt enjoys each of the cards and well wishes.

It is so good to hear Matt is progressing well. He owes a lot of that to his own perseverance, but also to the wonderful support from Tessa and Barb and Gary. You all continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. Have a great weekend.

Love to all, Annie :)

HI, Matt! I made it to Anchorage Alaska today. The mountains are magnificent and we had great views from the plane on the way in. Keep up the hard work in PT

Matt,

Hope you be able to laugh today!
Happy to hear you will be getting out of the hospital. Great Progress.

Today's joke offering:
An atheist is walking through the forest when Big Foot jumps out at him. As he approaches menacingy, the atheist yells, "Lord save me!"
Seconds later, a voice rumbles from heaven. "I thought you didnn't believe in me."
"Well," the man says, "until a minute ago, I didn't believe in Big Foot either."

Matt & Family,

I ran across the following quote today and it brought all of you to mind. Today I pray for peace for all of you. I pray that God will take away all of your anxiety and replace it with the peace only He can provide. (Tessa it sounds like you deserve a pat on the back to make sure you have a place to keep your family together...good for you...I know you must have moments of feeling overwhelmed...in the best of circumstances being a wife and mother of two small children has its challenges...I pray you find strength in those who love you and in His love)

Be at Peace by St. Francis de Sales

Do not look forward in fear to the changes of life;

Rather look to them with full hope that as they arise, God, whose very own you are, will lead you safely through all things;

And when you cannot stand it, God will carry you in His arms.

Do not fear what may happen tomorrow;

The same everlasting Father who cares for you today will take care of you today and every day.

He will either shield you from suffering or will give you unfailing strength to bear it.

Be at peace and put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations.

Peace my friends,

Lisa Blaes

Hi! SSGT. Matt,

I haven't gotten around to sending a joke for a few days. I've been babysitting, including your nieces and nephews, Jacob, Laura, Noel and Mark.

Joke:
Still groggy from an operation, the patient was in an agitated state. "Nurse," he moaned, "I heard the surgeon use a four-letter word, and it caused me great destress."
"What did the surgeon say?" asked the nurse.
"Oops."

Hey Matt,

I hear they're going to kick you out of the hospital! Too much for them to handle, huh? Hope you and Tessa get settled in your base housing soon, and that your girls can join you, too. Keep on amazing everyone with your strength, perseverance and positive attitude. You are one amazing nephew! Much love to all of your family.

Love, Annie :)

Dear Matt,
I just wanted you to know that I think about you and remember you and your family in my daily prayers. I also pray for all the men and women serving our country, fighting terrorism to protect our freedom.
My husband, Len Mohlman, was a teacher and football coach at Bishop Miege High School when your Dad, Gary, was a Guidance Counselor there. We know your Mom, Barbara, too.
Matt, I admire your attitude and your dedication to the physical therapy and progress you have made. You have been blest with devoted support from your wife, Tessa, and your parents.
In HIS love and friendship,
Mary Jo Mohlman
